“Little Boy” [Oil & Acrylic On Canvas]
I painted this piece with acrylic and oil colors in 2020. I was not trying to tell one specific story. Instead, I wanted to capture a feeling many displaced people experience. I put myself in this painting, which is how I feel, being physically present but emotionally somewhere else. The bedroom becomes a quiet space where memory, loss, and hope all exist at the same time.
Through this painting, I want viewers to slow down and connect with the boy not just as a refugee, but as a child facing a difficult and uncertain time in life.
“Beauty In Pain” [Acrylic On Canvas]
In this piece, I share my journey through the stages of transformation, much like the life cycle of a butterfly. I was born as a refugee in the developing country of Nepal, I grew up under difficult environment that influenced who I became. Just as a larva undergoes change to become something beautiful, I have channeled my pain through art. In doing so, I discovered that creation can be a powerful way to express and transform my experiences. [Acrylic on canvas]
